The Energy Company Obligation (“ECO”) is a an energy efficiency scheme in Great Britain that places legal obligations on larger energy suppliers to deliver energy efficiency measures to domestic premises to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. The scheme began in April 2013, and has been amended a number of times. The latest version of the policy, ECO3, began on 3 December 2018, and applies to measures completed from 1 October 2018. The ECO is administered by Ofgem.
