Please sign up for the course before starting the lesson.

Balancing Use of System (“BSUoS”) charges represent the costs incurred by National Grid for their actions in maintaining the balance of demand and quality and security supply on the network. BSUoS charges are daily charges levied on a £ /MWh basis, and are paid by suppliers and generators based on their energy taken from or supplied to the National Grid in each half-hourly settlement period.

This lesson describes how Balancing Service Use of System costs are determined and recovered, and their proposed reforms.
