  • Introduction to Electricity Trading

This course covers the basics of how electricity is traded, explaining how electricity is bought and sold in the wholesale markets whether bilaterally or on regulated exchanges, how National Grid, the Electricity System Operator buys and sells electricity in the Balancing Mechanism, and the Imbalance and Settlements process.
  • Environmental & Social Policy in the UK Energy Market

This course covers the various support mechanisms operating in different parts of the UK energy markets. For the past two decades, successive Governments have implemented policies designed to support environmental objectives. Some of these mechanisms operate as a tax on emissons, while others provide subsidies to various forms of electricity generation and renewable heating technologies. There are also social support mechanisms introduced to reduce the cost burden of these measures on the most vulnerable consumers. This course describes all of these mechanisms, detailing how they operate, how they are accessed, and how their costs are recovered.
