This course covers the basics of electricity markets, explaining how electricity is generated, traded and transported to the homes and businesses that use it. It describes the key players in the GB market and how the current market structure evolved.

We start by introducing electricity as a concept and define some key terms before going on to a brief history of the GB electricity market and how the current market structure has arisen.

This will lead to an overview of the electricity value chain, examining the key players in the GB market, and finally we will look in high level terms at the energy transition and the road to net-zero carbon dioxide emissions.
