Description
This seminar builds on the content from the Introduction to Electricity Markets course. Starting with a brief overview of the pre-war trading arrangements and the post-war nationalisation, the course goes on to explore the early years of privatisation and unbundling with the ground-breaking Electricity Pool, before going into the details of the New Electricity Trading Arrangements (“NETA”), later re-named re-named BETTA – the British Electricity Trading Transmission Arrangements, which persist to this day.
This includes details of how electricity is bought and sold in the wholesale markets whether bilaterally or on regulated exchanges, how National Grid, the Electricity System Operator buys and sells electricity in the Balancing Mechanism, and the Imbalance and Settlements process.
